Using Google-maps usage data to help untangle city traffic problems seems like an idea that should have already been implemented by now. Technology companies know a lot more about a city's traffic patterns than the city officials trying to solve the problem. The increase in productivity alone could add some basis points to our GDP growth rate - Comment

Clients tend to return to you when they trust your suggestions. Helping others is motivating and can in itself help you improve your productivity. Helping out when no one else was available helped Kat Cole learn new aspects of the job and move from hostess to waitress to manager, to president of Cinnabon, a company that touched $1 billion in revenues last year. So, the next time someone asks you for help at work... - Comment

The Concorde failed for a variety of reasons: expensive tickets, sonic booms that nixed overland travel, the slowdown in air travel after Sept. 11. In the years since, the other couple of efforts to build a supersonic commercial jet fizzled, and the conventional aerospace wisdom is that such projects are too expensive and risky. Enter Boom Technology, a Denver based startup that promises to fly you from New York to London in 3.4 hours, at less than business class fare.
