India sets guidelines to meet EU drug import rules

The government on Thursday issued new guidelines for pharmaceutical makers to comply with a European Union (EU) directive on standards for import of bulk drugs into the EU that takes effect on July 2. Government to soon redefine 'control' in its FDI policy

The government will soon put out a tighter definition of control and ownership in an Indian firm with foreign stakeholders, with the ministries of commerce and finance settling their row over the matter. "There will be some clarifications on foreign direct investment (FDI) policy, and whatever clarifications will be issued, will be prospective," Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said. India and Australia on Thursday signed an agreement for skill development in the agriculture sector. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) results from the joint commitment of Australian and Indian Prime Ministers in October 2012 to build bilateral partnerships between skills councils in key sectors such as telecom, retail, mining, media/entertainment and agriculture.
